New Tracking Software Approved for Steuben County Jail
Wednesday, October 22, 2025
(ANGOLA) - Steuben County will implement a new computerized detainee classification system at its jail. Steuben's jail is one of six facilities in Indiana chosen for a pilot program where the software will be installed and integrated with existing systems.
Sheriff R.J. Robinson stated that the new system will eliminate paper-based processes and allow counties to access criminal record history on detainees across county lines in real time. On Tuesday, County Commissioners approved purchase of the system, which will cost $12,417. The cost for the system will be paid for using reimbursement funds the county receives for housing inmates for the Indiana Department of Correction.
