(ANGOLA) - A Steuben County official is taking on a new leadership role at the state level.
Steuben County Commissioner Rick Shipe has been elected Northeast District President of the Association of Indiana Counties during a district meeting held in Wells County.
In the role, Shipe will represent county officials from across northeast Indiana, including Steuben, DeKalb, LaGrange, Allen, Noble, and several other counties. He will also serve on the organization's Board of Directors, helping shape policy and legislative priorities for counties statewide.
Shipe says he was honored to be nominated and elected, and looks forward to representing the region at the state level.
Also elected during the meeting was Wells County Recorder Rina Stuck, who will serve as Northeast District Vice President.
The Association of Indiana Counties is a nonprofit organization founded in 1957 that advocates for county government, works with state and federal agencies, and provides training and support for local officials.
