(ANGOLA) - The Steuben County Sheriff's Office marked the retirement of Sergeant Todd Patterson this week, celebrating a 32-year career of service as a merit deputy.

Throughout his distinguished tenure, Patterson served in a wide range of roles, including patrol deputy, patrol sergeant, hostage negotiator, and Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) instructor. His decades of work contributed significantly to public safety and law enforcement operations across Steuben County.

While Patterson is retiring from sworn service, he is not leaving the Sheriff's Office. He has accepted the civilian position of Sheriff's Communications and E911 Director, allowing him to continue serving the department and the citizens of Steuben County in a new capacity.

Sheriff's Office officials expressed gratitude for Patterson's long-standing dedication and congratulated him on both his retirement and his new role.
