(HICKSVILLE) - A fight at Hicksville schools turned serious Monday morning, sending one student to the hospital and landing another in juvenile detention.
Hicksville police say they were called just before 11:30 a.m. after a report that a student was unconscious and bleeding from the nose following an altercation on school grounds.
By the time officers and paramedics arrived, the injured student had regained consciousness. The student was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No update on the student's condition has been released.
Police say a 13-year-old student was taken into custody and transported to the Northwest Ohio Juvenile Detention Center. The case will be forwarded to the Defiance County Prosecutor's Office for review.
Police Chief Mark Denning said the incident was isolated and there was no ongoing threat to students or staff. The investigation is continuing, and authorities have not released details about what led up to the fight.
