(COLDWATER) - The felony trial of Anthony Cuyler, first charged in 2019 and arrested in 2024 after years as a fugitive, is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Branch County Circuit Court.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced that Cuyler, 48, will face a jury on multiple serious charges, including three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, delivery of methamphetamine to a minor, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a felon.

Cuyler was originally charged by the Branch County Prosecutor's Office in connection with alleged sexual assaults involving two girls, ages 11 and 12, and accusations that he provided methamphetamine to the minors. Authorities say he fled Michigan shortly after the charges were filed, avoiding capture for several years.

Following an extended investigation, law enforcement received information indicating Cuyler was living in Mexico. The U.S. Marshals Service extradited him under Operation Survivor Justice in March 2024, returning him to Michigan to face the charges.

The Michigan Attorney General's Office will prosecute the case, which marks the culmination of a years-long effort to bring the defendant before the court.
