Churubusco Man Rescued From Sunroof In DeKalb County

DEKALB COUNTY - A Churubusco man was rescued from the sunroof of his car following an accident in rural DeKalb County.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Department stated the accident took place a approximately 12:20 a.m. on Thursday, February 22 on C.R. 64.

A preliminary investigation concluded Sheldon Shearer, 26, of Churubusco was driving westbound in the 8100 block of C.R. 64 when his car left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The vehicle came to a rest on its side in a field on the south side of the roadway.

Shearer was extracted through the sunroof by Concord fire personnel.

He was transported to a nearby hospital by Parkview DeKalb EMS for injuries noted as general "complains of pain."

Authorities suspect alcohol to be a factor in the accident.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Concord Fire Department, Parkview EMS, and the DeKalb County Central Dispatch.
