Constantine Man, Dogs Killed In Two Vehicle Crash

FABIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A two vehicle crash claimed the life of one of the drivers and two animals.

Michigan State Police were called to a two vehicle, head on crash on U.S. 131 near M-60 in Fabius Township. Troopers determined that a 66 year old Constantine man was driving an SUV south on U.S. 131 when he crossed the centerline, going into the northbound lanes.

A semi was heading north. The driver, a 60 year old Indiana man, told troopers he attempted to avoid hitting the SUV, but was unable to do so.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene along with two dogs that were riding with him. The man was wearing his seatbelt. The semi driver was not injured and was also wearing his seatbelt.

Assisting at the scene were the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, the Three Rivers Police and Fire Department, the Fabius Fire Department and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
