FORT WAYNE - Mrs. Mayor, Cindy Henry, passed away in her sleep Saturday night.

Cindy, wife of Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, died "peacefully Saturday evening surrounded by her family."

She announced in October of 2022 in a letter to the Journal Gazette she had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Despite her diagnosis Cindy still outspokenly encouraged her husband to run for his historical fifth term as the mayor of Fort Wayne.

A statement from the City of Fort Wayne said, "Cindy had a caring heart, a loving spirit, and an infectious laugh."

"Her contributions to our community are immeasurable, and her family and friends will miss her. Mayor Henry and his family thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers, but also ask for privacy as they both grieve and celebrate the life of their beautiful Cindy."

Formerly Cindy Kocks, she was the owner of Green Frog Inn, a bar and eatery in downtown Fort Wayne, for over 20 years.

Cindy is survived by her husband, son Benjamin, daughter Elizabeth and four grandchildren.

She was 67-years-old.
