Ice Storm Possible Monday Night In NE Indiana And SW Michigan

STEUBEN COUNTY - Freezing rain is possible for the surrounds areas beginning Monday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 p.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Tuesday for Steuben, LaGrange, DeKalb, Noble and Elkhart Counties in Indiana and Branch, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph Counties in Michigan.

Forecasters say freezing rain is expected with total ice accumulations between one-tenth to one quarter of an inch; although, accumulations of more than a quarter of an inch are possible.

The ice will cause difficult travel conditions overnight and Tuesday morning.

And ice build-up could also cause limbs and power lines to come down.

The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana stated in, "NW Indiana and SW Michigan, a wintry mix Monday morning transitions to freezing rain by Monday afternoon/evening."

"For all areas, freezing rain spreads northeast overnight into Tuesday morning, becoming just rain into Tuesday afternoon. Ice accumulations between 0.10”-0.20” possible, especially north of US 24."
