Waterloo Man Killed In Head-on Collision

WATERLOO - A Waterloo man was killed in a head-on collision.

On Thursday, January 19 at approximately 2:20 p.m. a pickup truck driven by Chad M. Knott, 49, of Waterloo was traveling eastbound in the 500 block of W. Union St. (U.S. Hwy. 6) when he crossed left of the center line.

Knott collided head-on with another pickup truck traveling westbound on W. Union St. driven by Jason T. Dilts, 48, of Butler.

Knott was pronounced dead at the scene by the DeKalb County Coroner.

Dilts and his 14-year-old passenger both were transported to a nearby hospital and are reported to both be in fair condition.

Both pickup trucks sustained heavy frontend damage and were both noted to be totaled.

The accident remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Waterloo Town Marshall's Office, the Indiana State Police, the Waterloo Fire Department, the Butler Fire Department, the DeKalb County Coroner's Office, Tony's Towing, Jeff's Auto and the DeKalb County Central Communications.
