(ANGOLA) - If you're hoping for snow on Christmas morning, you may want to adjust those expectations.

According to the National Weather Service, mild weather will continue right through Christmas Day, with temperatures well above normal for late December.

Forecasters say after a chilly start to the week, warmer air settles in and sticks around. By Christmas morning, temperatures are expected to be in the lower 40s, with mostly cloudy skies and a few scattered showers possible early in the day.

As the day goes on, highs on Christmas Day are forecast to climb into the lower 50s, making it feel more like early fall than late December. Any rain should be light, and widespread snow is not expected.

The National Weather Service says rain could return Christmas night, but it should move out before Friday morning. In fact, Friday may end up being the warmest day of the week, with highs approaching 60 degrees, though gusty winds will come with it.

So while it won't be a white Christmas, forecasters say travel conditions should be relatively quiet -- and holiday plans outdoors may actually feel fairly comfortable for this time of year.
