(SPENCERVILLE) - A motorcyclist suffered an abrasion to his right upper arm Monday evening in a crash on State Road 1 in Spencerville.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened at 7 p.m. Monday, June 29, on State Road 1 at Pearl Street.
Deputies say 37-year-old Joshua Bowsher of Auburn was riding a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard north on State Road 1. A 2009 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 37-year-old Jordan Moran of Kendallville, was traveling south on State Road 1 and attempted to turn left onto Pearl Street.
Bowsher told deputies there was not enough time for the Hyundai to complete the turn, so he swerved around it. His motorcycle fell over and slid on its side along the road.
Moran told deputies he attempted to turn onto Pearl Street and did not see the motorcycle. He said the motorcycle swerved around him without hitting his vehicle.
Bowsher had abrasions to his right upper arm. No injuries were reported for Moran.
Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at $6,000. The Hyundai had no damage.
The motorcycle was removed from the scene by Jeff's Towing. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Spencerville Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Jeff's Towing and DeKalb County Central Communications.
