(STEUBEN COUNTY) - Fair week is bringing a new event to the Steuben County 4-H Fair, and it could feature some of the most memorable sights on the grounds.
The first-ever 4-H Livestock Costume Contest is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. in Rensch Hall.
The contest invites 4-H members to show off both their creativity and their favorite livestock projects. Classes include cattle, swine, sheep, horses, goats, poultry and rabbits.
Organizers say animals must be dressed in some way, while youth participants are welcome to wear costumes of their own, though it is not required.
The contest is open to regular 4-H members, with one animal allowed per member. Animals must be manageable without gates, and parents or fellow 4-H members may assist with handling animals during the event.
From dressed-up rabbits and poultry to costumed cattle and goats, fairgoers can expect plenty of creativity when the new contest makes its debut Tuesday evening.
