(ANGOLA) - Trine University has welcomed Dr. Alan McGee back to its Board of Trustees.

McGee, a longtime orthopedic surgeon and current president of orthopedics for Parkview Health, previously served on the board from 2014 through 2017. Trustees voted to affirm his return during the board's May meeting.

Board Chair Dr. Rick L. James said McGee brings extensive healthcare expertise as the university continues to expand and refine its health sciences and health professions programs.

McGee assumed his current role at Parkview Health after retiring in 2023 from Orthopedics Northeast. He specialized in spine surgery at the practice for more than 33 years.

McGee said Trine has become a leader in healthcare education, particularly with the addition of the Brooks College of Health Professions facility, and said he looks forward to helping guide the university's continued growth.

A graduate of Wright State University, McGee earned both his bachelor's degree and medical degree there and received the university's Alumni of the Year Award in 2001.

He was named Indiana's Top Doctor for Orthopaedics in 2004, 2005 and 2009.

McGee is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the North American Spine Society and the Fort Wayne Medical Society. He is also a founding member of the African American Healthcare Alliance of Fort Wayne and serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne and Super Shot, Inc.
