(FORT WAYNE) - Gas prices in Indiana have dropped in recent days, but analysts warn another increase could be coming soon.

According to reporting from Network Indiana, GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis Patrick DeHaan says refinery issues in Indiana and across the Midwest could begin driving prices back up this week.

DeHaan says wholesale diesel and premium gasoline prices have risen sharply in recent trading sessions, suggesting production issues at some refineries.

He said diesel prices in Indiana have started climbing again while regular gasoline prices have recently fallen.

GasBuddy reported Indiana's statewide average for regular gasoline dropped from about $4.86 per gallon a little more than a week ago to around $4.36 Monday.

Meanwhile, diesel prices increased slightly to about $5.98 per gallon.

DeHaan also said Governor Mike Braun's temporary gas tax holiday is helping lower prices at some Indiana stations. He said some stations in northwestern Indiana were selling gasoline below $4 per gallon.

However, DeHaan warned prices can still vary significantly from station to station depending on how quickly retailers pass along tax savings.

He also pointed to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and continued disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz as factors putting upward pressure on global oil price
