(GARRETT) - A 25-year-old Kendallville man was killed Sunday morning after his SUV crashed into a utility pole and overturned into floodwater near Garrett.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened around 7 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of County Road 52.
Investigators say Tristan Boyles was driving east when, for an unknown reason, his 2007 Subaru Outback left the south side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The vehicle then rolled onto its top and came to rest in high water along the roadside caused by flooding.
Boyles was pulled from the SUV by Garrett firefighters and pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, with assistance from Garrett Fire, Parkview EMS, Garrett Police and Central Communications.
