(COLDWATER) - A longtime voice in local media is facing a misdemeanor charge.
James "Jim" Measel, 69, a veteran broadcaster and former News Director at WLKI, was arrested by Coldwater Police and booked into the Branch County Jail on March 19 on a charge of simple assault and battery.
Jail records list the charge under Michigan law as a misdemeanor that can involve attempted harm, unwanted physical contact, or placing someone in fear of injury. It carries a possible penalty of up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Police have not released details about the incident, including where or when it occurred or who was involved.
Measel has spent more than 30 years in radio across Michigan and Indiana, including previous work in Angola, Lansing and with the Michigan Radio Network, and is a multiple Associated Press award winner for play-by-play coverage.
