(MERRILLVILLE) -- Northern Indiana Public Service Company is reminding customers to prepare for severe weather as Severe Weather Preparedness Week begins in Indiana.
The statewide observance runs through March 14 and encourages residents to review safety plans for storms such as thunderstorms, flooding, and tornadoes.
NIPSCO President and Chief Operating Officer Vince Parisi says the week is a reminder for families to take steps now to stay safe during severe weather, including creating an emergency plan.
Utility officials say preparation now can help reduce risks when storms arrive later this spring.
