(FORT WAYNE) - Postal workers and supporters gathered Sunday in downtown Fort Wayne as national contract negotiations between the United States Postal Service and the National Association of Letter Carriers get underway.
The rally took place from 1 to 3 p.m. on the Allen County Courthouse lawn, where local carriers and community members held signs, waved flags and voiced support for what organizers call a fair contract.
The union represents about 295,000 active and retired letter carriers nationwide and advocates for workplace safety, pay and working conditions.
The demonstration comes at the start of bargaining sessions that will determine pay, benefits and working conditions for letter carriers across the country.
