(ADRIAN) - Opening statements began Thursday in the Lenawee County murder trial of Dale Warner, who is accused of killing his wife, Dee Warner, nearly five years after her disappearance.

Prosecutors began presenting their case shortly after 10 a.m. Warner is charged in connection with the 2021 disappearance of his wife from their home in Franklin Township.

Dee Warner was reported missing in April 2021. Her remains were discovered in August 2024 inside an anhydrous ammonia tank on property owned by Dale Warner, according to investigators.

A jury was seated earlier this week following a two-week selection process. Prospective jurors were questioned extensively about their knowledge of the case, personal opinions and any potential conflicts that could affect their ability to serve.

Court officials expect the trial to be lengthy as prosecutors and defense attorneys present evidence and testimony related to the case.
