(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University will host an official championship celebration Saturday following the Hoosiers' undefeated national title season.
The university announced the event will take place at Memorial Stadium from 1 to 3 p.m. Parking lots around the stadium will open at 10 a.m., with gates opening at 11:30 a.m.
Indiana officials say commemorative championship rally towels will be distributed, the IU team store will be open, and limited concessions will be available. The celebration will air live on Big Ten Network.
The Hoosiers secured the national championship Monday night with a 27-21 win over the Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, finishing the season 16-0. Indiana sealed the victory in the final seconds with an interception by defensive back Jamari Sharpe.
The College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy will also be on public display this week at two Bloomington locations:
- Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. at Kroger on South College Mall Road
- Thursday, 4-7 p.m. at Walmart on IN-45
In addition, IU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza is scheduled to hold an autograph signing Wednesday at DICK'S Sporting Goods in Bloomington. Attendance is limited to the first 250 fans with wristbands.
