(ANGOLA) - An art exhibit showcasing insect-based artwork by artist Shane Morris opens today at the Angola Performing Arts Academy Youth Gallery, with a public artist reception scheduled for Friday evening.

The exhibit, titled Insect Collective, features fine art created from preserved insects and highlights what organizers describe as the dramatic designs found in nature. The show runs from Friday, Jan. 16, through Feb. 22 at the gallery, located at 45 S. Public Square in downtown Angola.

An artist opening and reception will be held at 5:30 p.m. today. The event is open to the public and is designed to be family-friendly, with organizers encouraging parents to bring children.

According to exhibit materials, Morris' work combines science and art, using insects to create detailed, symmetrical designs. The exhibit is supported by the Steuben County Community Foundation and the Entomological Society of America.

Gallery hours are Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Admission is free. Donations to APAA are ALWAYS welcome!
