Trine Men’s Golf Places Fourth at Lourdes (Ohio) Invitational

Sophomore Jacob Black (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) finished in the top-10 and helped lead the Trine University men's golf team to a fourth place finish at the Lourdes Invitational hosted by Lourdes (Ohio) University at The Legacy Golf Club in Ottawa Lake, Mich.

Trine concluded the one-day event with a team score of 324 strokes to finish fourth of nine teams. Host school Lourdes came in first place with a score of 312 strokes and Siena Heights (Mich.) University was second at 314 strokes. Urbana (Ohio) University rounded out the top three teams with 320 strokes.

Black shot an 18-hole score of 79 strokes and placed seventh overall to pace the Thunder. Senior Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) was second on the team with a round of 81 strokes and was followed by the duo of freshman Sean Hogan (Goshen, Ind./Northwood) and sophomore Jeffrey Uhls (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville) who both shot rounds of 82 strokes.

Junior Zach Frane (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) was the fifth man to make up the individual team eligible scores with a score of 92 strokes in his first action of the season.

Freshman Travis Mersing (Swanton, Ohio/Evergreen) also got to compete for Trine and fired a round of 83 strokes as an individual.

Trine will next compete in the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree event of the season on Saturday, Sept. 28. Adrian (Mich.) College will host the event at the Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, Mich. The round is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
