Police Chase Ends in Arrest

MONTPELIER, OH - A driver was arrested in Montpelier, Ohio after he led officers on a chase following a traffic stop.

An officer with the Montpelier Police Department engaged in a traffic stop near South Platt Street at Washington Street. The driver failed to stop for the officer, fleeing at a high rate of speed and running several stop signs in town.

The suspect fled from the Montpelier town limits into other nearby areas of Williams County, and then back into town. The suspect then abandon the vehicle near Randolph and Monroe streets, fleeing on foot.

The Williams County Sheriff's Office provided assistance by deploying a K9 officer for tracking.

Through investigation, and assistance of the public, the suspect was identified as 20 year old Tristan McDaniel. He was later located, and charged with felony Failure to Comply with a Lawful Order/Signal of Police Officer, and incarcerated at Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.

The Williams’s County Prosecutor's Office is seeking additional charges.
