MSD Contract Dispute Settled Wednesday Evening
By: Sheila McCrea - Thursday, May 6, 2021

ANGOLA, IN - A contract dispute between the Metropolitan School District of Steuben County Board of Trustees and Superintendent Brent Wilson has reached an amicable settlement.

The decision came at a special meeting Wednesday called by the Board of Trustees. Only one agenda item, which was the litigation, was listed as business for the special session.

An executive session to discuss the pending litigation was held prior to the special meeting that was open to the public.

As a result of the special meeting, the MSD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Brent Wilson decided to part ways. The agreement ends two lawsuits between Wilson and the MSD Board of Trustees.

The school district will pay Wilson $200-thousand dollars for the agreed settlement, plus his stipends totaling roughly $471-thousand from his original contract.

Board officials say Wilson will continue to serve in the Superintendent position until his contract officially ends on June 30th this summer.

The board plans to begin their search for a new Superintendent immediately, and say an interim will likely be appointed in the future.

It seems to be the general consensus of sources that spoke with WLKI Wednesday evening that everyone involved “is ready to proactively move forward for the greater good of all”, specifically for the students the district serves.
