By: Sheila McCrea - Thursday, March 18, 2021

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb held his weekly press conference Wednesday afternoon to give an update on the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governor Holcomb and state health officials, including State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box and ISDH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lindsay Weaver were all on hand. During the update, Dr. Box said Indiana is working to adhere to the federal directive of opening vaccinations to all adults by May 1, but that will depend on vaccine supply.

Indiana is administering over 85% of the vaccines it receives, which is above the national average. The Hoosier state has received several thousand fewer doses per 100 residents that other states.

The state is expecting an increase in supply during the last week of March.

The Steuben County vaccination site at Crooked Lake has surpassed 26,000 doses administered as of Monday.

The governor announced the state will be receiving $3 billion in stimulus funds.
