MHSAA Issues Statement On Extension of Order
By: Mike Stiles - Tuesday, December 8, 2020

EAST LANSING – The Michigan High School Athletic Association issued a statement Monday following the announcement of the epidemic order extension.

MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl says they realize the crisis Michigan's medical caregivers and first responders are navigating and understand the need to continue the pause. However, the MHSAA provided a detailed plan to both Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the MDHHS that would have completed the Fall tournaments with no spectators as safely as possible during the month of December, along with allowing Winter sports practices to resume.

Uyl says while they are disappointed with the announcement, the MHSAA will continue to look forward as they remain committed to play three sports seasons to their conclusions.

The MHSAA Representative Council will meet on Wednesday to chart out another plan for finishing Fall sports and resuming Winter sports.
