By: Sheila McCrea - Monday, December 7, 2020

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Today is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.

Each year on December 7th, Pearl Harbor survivors, veterans, and visitors from all over the world come together to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. A further 1,178 people were injured in the attack, which permanently sank two U.S. Navy battleships (the USS Arizona and the USS Utah) and destroyed 188 aircraft.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb is directing flags across Indiana to be flown at half-staff for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day today (Monday, December 7).

The governor's press release says the flags should be at half-staff from midnight to midnight.
Governor Holcomb asks that businesses and residents lower their flags to half-staff as well.
