Indiana Governor Announces Plan for More School Bus Safety
By: Sheila McCrea - Tuesday, August 4, 2020

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced this week that more than 200 law enforcement agencies will conduct extra patrols to safeguard students as they get on and off the bus this school year.

The overtime patrols are part of the state's Stop Arm Violation Enforcement program developed by the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute in 2019. During the initiative, patrols will work with local schools and bus drivers to identify areas where the highest number of violations occur.

The S.A.V.E. program is funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
