Holcomb Says Back On Track Has Five Stages
Monday, May 4, 2020

Governor Eric Holcomb is hoping that Indiana will have their economy
going back at full capacity by July 4.

Holcomb made that announcement last Friday during his daily press conference on how the State is handling the COVID-19 pandemic. He introduced his Back On Track Indiana plan, which would be based on data, just as all his decisions since the first case of coronavirus was detected in Indiana in March.

The Back On Track Indiana Plan has five stages. Stage 1 has been in effect since March 24. That was when the State said only essential businesses would be open and all K-12 school buildings would be closed.

Holcomb announced that Stage 2 would begin for nearly all of Indiana this week. He said the State must continue to protect the most vulnerable among us. Hoosiers age 65 and older and those who have high risk health conditions are asked to stay home as much as possible.

Holcomb says for Lake and Marion Counties, Stage 2 would start on May 11, and for Cass County on May 18. Also under Stage 2, essential travel restrictions will be lifted and social gatherings of up to 25 people will be permitted, following the CDC's social distancing guidelines. The remaining manufacturers, industrial and other infrastructure operations that had not been considered essential may open. Hoosiers who can work from home are encouraged to continue doing so.

Retail and commercial businesses may open at 50 percent capacity. This includes apparel, furniture, jewelry and liquor stores that have been operating as curbside or delivery only.

Starting May 8 for all Indiana counties, indoor worship services may also convene, following specific social distancing guidelines. Those individuals 65 and older and with elevated risk will be asked to stay home.
