Wednesday, April 22, 2020

ANGOLA, IN - The Steuben County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) Board of Directors has recently responded to the items that Commissioner Liecthy made public this past weekend via WLKI in her resignation to the EDC board.

President of the EDC, Chris Folland said “after fully reviewing all aspects of the current issue, the SCEDC Board of Directors felt” that they “needed to voice our concerns to make sure that they were heard disputing the bullet points mentioned by Commissioner Liechty”. Folland added the “EDC Board as well as many of the towns and city of Angola, fully support the mission of the EDC” and the “staff to move in a collaborative economic development approach.”

In a news release the EDC included support letters from Angola Mayor Richard Hickman, Connie Boocher of the Orland Town Council, C. Steve Brown of the Fremont Town Council, Mary Vail of the Hamilton Town Council, and Josh Odom of the Hudson Town Council.

Josh Odom, President of the Hudson Town Board said, “Liechty’s, letter outlines several statements that are inconsistent and, in some instances, blatant untruths”. Odom went on to “express” his “frustration, and disappointment in the manner Commissioner Liechty” chose to resign from the SCEDC board.

Commissioner Liechty’s resignation was the third of three recent resignations from the EDC board. Not long before her resignation, both Kevin Stoy and Gretchen Miller resigned in recent weeks.
