Winter May Cause Some Hazardous Travel Sunday
By: Sheila McCrea - Sunday, February 9, 2020

Winter may cause some hazardous travel throughout the tri-state region on Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, a band of heavy snow is expected to impact the area late this morning into this afternoon. Forecasters say snow accumulations are only expected to range from 1 to 3 inches. The snow will likely fall in the span of a few hours with rates of over an inch per hour expected at times.

Drivers could encounter significantly reduced visibilities and deteriorating road conditions. In addition, gusty southeasterly winds will also cause blowing and drifting snow. The snow will eventually change over to rain several hours after it starts as warmer air briefly arrives.

Travelers should allow extra time on area roadways.
