Proposed Bill To Require Teachers To Go Through Training Prior To Carrying Guns At Indiana Schools
Friday, January 31, 2020
A new bill at the Statehouse would require teachers who carry guns in schools to go through training before they carry.
Several supporters of the bill think it is a great idea because many feel educating people about guns is important. Even several parents across the state feel the same, saying they would be okay with teachers carrying at their children's schools.
Just as the supporters of the bill feel strongly about it, others have reservations on the idea feeling that carrying at school would give "major anxiety" and it would worry many parents of potential danger. In fact, several have formed a group called "Moms Demand Action" and have rallied at the Statehouse, attended hearings and even testified during hearings to share their opinions.
The group has expressed a desire to sit down with lawmakers to talk about these laws and the effects they may have down the road.
