The YMCA of Steuben County, is celebrating its 20 year anniversary on Sunday, February 2nd and is inviting the community to join in the celebration with a free community open house from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. There will be healthy snacks and door prizes raffled off at 2pm during a presentation celebrating our past and sharing our vision for the next 20 years!

Because of a vision of four community leaders, a study was conducted to determine the community need and interest in a local YMCA. The determination of these community leaders and a well thought out plan, a beautiful, clean, Christian based organization was established in 2000 - an organization that is built on the solid YMCA principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.

During the open house, members and prospective members will be able to tour the facility, take part in group exercise classes, and enjoy the many amenity’s the Y has to offer. The Y will be offering a 1:00pm Family Yoga Class and a 3:00pm Barr Class. Directors and Board Members will be available to answer questions and get you engaged with the many opportunities available here at the Y.

Area residents are encouraged to stop in at the Y for a fantastic family experience on Sunday, February 2. Over the last 20 years we have expanded to serve over 4,000 members, including over 1,000 children. The Y is constantly going through improvements to better serve the community and to uphold the mission of: “To put Christian principles into practice in programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
