Coldwater Man Arrested In Relation To February Infant Death

On Wednesday, a three-count felony arrest warrant was issued for Coleman Ray Royer in relation to an incident that occured back on February 13th of this year in which the Coldwater Police Department received information that a five month old Coldwater infant was at the University of Michigan Mott’s Children Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan receiving treatment for serious life threatening injuries.

According to reports, the five month old infant was transported to the University of Michigan Mott’s Children Hospital in Ann Arbor by Life Care Ambulance service after first receiving treatment at Promedica Regional Hospital in Coldwater, Michigan and then later Parkview Medical in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Coldwater Police Department immediately initiated an investigation into this complaint sending Officers to University of Michigan Mott’s Children Hospital. It was learned the five month old child had numerous traumatic injuries. On February 14th, 2019 the five month old infant was pronounced dead.

On Wednesday, a three-count felony arrest warrant was issued for Coleman Ray Royer. Count One was listed at Homicide-Felony Murder; Count Two Child Abuse-First Degree and Count Three is Child Abuse Second Degree. This arrest warrant was authorized by the Branch County Prosecutor’s office after a lengthy investigation had been conducted by the Coldwater Police Department, who was assisted by the Michigan Department of Human Services and University of Michigan Mott’s Children Hospital Staff.

On Thursday, October 24, 2019 Coleman Royer was taken into custody and lodged at the Branch County Jail.
