At approximately 3:33 P.M. Wednesday Afternoon, at the intersection of State Route 1 and County Road 40 in DeKalb County a semi-truck crashed with a car.

It was there that 43-year-old Paul Jones of Toledo, Ohio was eastbound on County Road 40 at the intersection of State Road 1 operating his semi-truck and trailer. It was then that 2016 GMC Acadia driven by 32-year-old Amber Peters of St. Joe, Indiana was traveling southbound on State Road 1 approaching the County Road 40 intersection.

At the intersection, Jones failed to yield the right of way and rolled out into the intersection traveling east. Peters traveling southbound struck Jones in the semi in the intersection.

The semi-truck sustained front end damage and was towed from the scene, while Peters' airbags deployed and the vehicle was totaled while Peters and her passenger were transported to Parkview DeKalb Hospital by EMS for their injuries. Jones, the operator of the semi was unhurt.
