Farmers on Alert For Blight and Diseases In Williams County
Thursday, August 15, 2019

A close eye is being kept on diseases and pests affecting farmers across Williams County. The Williams County Ohio State University Extension Office are continuing to scout farm fields as growing season continues.

Officials are telling producers that they should look out for leaf diseases in what few corn acres were planted this year. They include gray leaf spot, as well as northern corn leaf blight.

Officials have said that those are fairly common this time of year, while a third disease to look out for is the likes of tar spot. While tar spot has not been noticed in Williams County, it has been showing up in various farms in the state of Michigan.
